Mets among several teams with interest in Darren O’Day

The Mets interest in free-agent RH reliever Darren O’Day, a source told Newsday reporter Marc Carig (Nov. 8, 2015).

CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman believes the Red Sox, Tigers, Nationals, Royals Dodgers and Cubs also have early interest in O’Day (Nov. 9. 2015), who had a 1.53 ERA in 68 appearances for the O’s last season.

O’Day, 33, 1.92 ERA in 263 innings the last four seasons.

In his recent Top 50 Free Agent Projection, Tim Dierkes of MLBTradeRumors.com predicted O’Day may could get three-year, $22 million deal this winter, with several teams interested in signing him.

The Mets selected O’Day in the Rule 5 Draft before 2008. He made their roster out of spring training, but was sent back to his orginal team after two weeks to make room on the roster for Nelson Figueroa.
