Reds open to trading Bruce and Chapman

The Reds are open to trading OF Jay Bruce, LHP Aroldis Chapman, and others, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports (Nov. 10).

The Mets nearly traded for Bruce on July 31 before ultimately dealing for Yoenis Cespedes. The deal for Bruce would’ve reportedly sent Zack Wheeler to Cincinnati.

Bruce, 28, hit .226/.294/.434 with 26 home runs and 87 RBI in 2015. He’ll make $12.5 million in 2016, after which he can become a free agent.

Chapman, 27, is eligible for free agency after the 2016 season. He posted a 1.63 ERA and 0.98 WHIP while striking out 116 batters in 66 1/3 innings this past season.
