Sandy Alderson talked to reporters at Citi Field on Wednesday and said…

He and his staff have already started working on 2016, though admittedly they’re still emotional about 2015 and how it ended.

The Mets had a successful season in 2015, “But not as successful as it would have been had we won the World Series,” nevertheless they have a lot to be proud of going forward.

Terry Collins is appreciated by the players and fans because his leader, he’s authentic and he’s a great communicator, regardless of the circumstances around him

The Mets should have higher expectations going in to 2016 than they had going in 2015, when they talked about having a winning record and getting to the postseason.

Their starting pitching is second to none, assuming everyone is healthy. However, their bullpen and offense must be addressed, either by retaining players that are free agents or signing or trading for other players.

The initial goal this winter will be to evaluate all players and the team on a “net-net basis,” because, “We may be relying on certain strengths to offset certain weaknesses,” and, “We’ve got to figure out ways to score more runs and, at the same time, be better defensively as well.”

Matt Harvey pitched exceptionally deep in to the season and demonstrated his commitment to the team and willingness to go the extra mile for this team and his teammates, “and I couldn’t be happier with Matt.”
