4 Tips on How To Deal With Pet Hair and Carpet

Are you struggling with pet hairs at home? Below are 4 tips to learn about the most effective ways to deal with pet hair.

Brush Before Vacuuming

Start by giving the carpet a light misting (water with a few drops of fabric softener ups the static to attract hair), then use a stiff bristled brush or broom to gather up the loose hair. Finish with a quick vacuum. Source: ApartmentTherapy

 Match Your Pet

A few users actually installed flooring to match their pets! “I took the easy way out–I bought carpets that don’t show the golden retriever hair so easily because of the color. The hair is still there, just not as obvious.” And “Have carpet and floor that match your dogs fur. My Pergo floor is light (Like blonde). Doesn’t show from a yellow lab until it fur balls from the fine hair during shedding.” Source: DogTime

Put On Latex Gloves

Rub the surface with it on. The pet hair should stick to your glove. This also works with rubber gloves or cloth gardening gloves with a rubber coating on the palm. A rubber bristle push broom can work in the same way on floors. Dampen the glove or rubber section of the glove for increased effectiveness. Source: WikiHow

Use Balloons

Most school-aged children know how to rub a balloon on hair to generate static electricity. This return to fourth-grade science class can actually help pet owners lift hair out of carpeting or upholstery. Just rub a balloon over the pet hair, and the balloon will pick up the mess.
