Matthew Cerrone: Last week at the GM Meetings, Mets assistant GM John Ricco insisted that the Mets aren’t looking to trade Zack Wheeler, despite reportedly including him in a failed deal for Carlos Gomez last summer.
However, “As with the other starters,” he added,”if something came up that we thought made us better, we’re going to talk about it.”
I’m not eager to see them deal Wheeler. But, if they’re going to trade anyone to help upgrade the offense, it should be him over Steven Matz, Noah Syndergaard, Matt Harvey or Jacob deGrom.
