Terry Collins finishes third in Manager of the Year voting

Mets manager Terry Collins finished third in National League Manager of the Year voting, losing out to Joe Maddon of the Cubs while also finishing behind Mike Matheny of the Cardinals, it was announced on the MLB Network on Tuesday night (Nov. 17).

Collins led the Mets to a 90-72 regular season record in 2015 and helped guide the team to the World Series, where they lost to the Royals in five games.

The award was voted on prior to the postseason.

2015 was Collins’ first winning season as Mets manager, having finished under .500 from 2011-2014.

After the World Series, Collins, 66, signed a two-year extension that runs through 2017.
