Mets have interest in Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr.

The Mets (and maybe the Nationals) are among teams showing interest in acquiring Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr., according to the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo (Nov. 14, 2015).

The Red Sox may explore trades this winter for Bradley, Rusney Castillo and Mookie Betts (Nov. 12, 2015).

Bradley, 25, hit .249 with a .335 OBP and .498 SLG with 10 HR and 43 RBI in 74 games this past season for Boston. In 2014, he played 113 of his 125 games in center field and made 13 outfield assists, while committing just one error. He played each outfield position in 2015.

He was ranked Boston’s second-best position prospect behind SS Xander Bogaerts before being promoted in 2014, according to Baseball America.

According to multiple reports, the Mets may be in the market for a center field, either to take over full time or platoon with Juan Lagares.

Bradley is an incredible defensive outfielder, but I’m not sold on his bat. He had one hot month and a crazy-high BABIP, but aside from that, his 2015 was just an OK season at best. The Red Sox have been asking teams about their starting pitching, so I assume when talking to the Mets the same high-caliber names will get mentioned. The Mets have the need, but the this doesn’t feel like the makings of a strong fit. Betts, on the other hand, is great, but he’s also likely the last guy in the bunch that Boston will try to deal (Nov. 12, 2015).
