Syndergaard ‘100 percent’ confident Mets will win World Series

“I’m 100 percent confident,’’ Noah Syndergaard said about his team’s chance to win the World Series, he told NY Post reporter Kevin Kernan after the NLCS (Oct. 22, 2015). “One hundred percent.”

As a rookie this past season, Syndergaard emerged to go 9-7 with a 3.24 ERA in the regular season with 166 strikeouts in 150 innings. He told Kernan his team has all the pieces necessary to bring a championship back to Queens.

“We have the pitching, the hitting and the defense,” he explained. “We have it all.”

In three playoff appearances (two starts), Syndergaard, 23, is 1-1 with a 2.77 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 13 innings. He pitched a scoreless inning of relief in the Mets’ clinching NLDS win over the Dodgers, and against the Cubs in Game 2 of the NLCS, struck out nine batters and allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings.

“As pitchers we came together on the mound as well, and we all believe in one another,” Syndergaard said. “And I was able to go out there and have the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.’’
