The Mets lost, 7-1, in Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday in Kansas City.
They had a 1-0 lead, but Jacob deGrom allowed four runs on five hits in the fifth inning. The Mets mustered just two hits on the night (both by Lucas Duda) against Royals RHP Johnny Cueto, who tossed a complete game.
Terry Collins said that he’s been reluctant to use Juan Uribe in a game, because he hasn’t played in since the last week of the regular season.
Bartolo Colon was unavailable for Game 2 of the World Series after throwing 50 pitches in Game 1.
What’s on tap for Thursday
The Mets return to Citi Field on Thursday. They’ll have a workout, after which Game 3 starter Noah Syndergaard and Collins will speak with the media.
Game 3 of the World Series will be played Friday at 8:07 p.m. at Citi Field. Noah Syndergaard (1-1, 2.77 ERA) will start for the Mets, and be opposed by Yordano Ventura (0-1, 5.09 ERA) for the Royals.
