The Mets traveled back to New York, where most of the team had an off-day, while some players hit in the indoor batting cages at Citi Field in advance of Game 3 of the World Series.
Terry Collins said there’s a strong chance Juan Lagares starts in center field in Game 3, with Yoenis Cespedes in left field.
The Royals did not have a workout at Citi Field on Thursday, and manager Ned Yost said that regular DH Kendrys Morales will be on the bench for Game 3. Chris Young continues to be on track to start Game 4, despite throwing three innings in relief during Game 1.
What’s on tap for Game 3 of the World Series
The Mets will host their first World Series since 2000, when they play Game 3 on Friday at 8:07 p.m. at Citi Field.
Mike Piazza will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Country singer Tim McGraw, son of former Mets reliever Tug McGraw, who coined the phrase, “Ya Gotta Believe,” will throw out the first pitch before Game 4.
Noah Syndergaard (1-1, 2.77 ERA) and his 98-mph fastball get the start for the Mets on Friday, opposed by Yordano Ventura (0-1, 5.09 ERA) and his 96-mph fastball will start for the Royals.
