Five things learned from Sandy Alderson’s talk with MLB.com…

.) The development of his farm system has been the forefront of the team’s success. The fact that the Mets have 16 homegrown players on their roster is “a point of pride for us.”

.) In regards to the trade that sent R.A. Dickey to the Blue Jays for Travis d’Arnaud and Noah Syndergaard, “You don’t often know, particularly when you’re taking prospects back, exactly how it’s going to work out. That one’s worked out pretty well for us.”

.) Given each trade comes at a different time, he tries not to rate each deal.

.) What the Mets lack in experience, they make up for with enthusiasm, which Alderson said is, “most gratifying,’ since each player, particularly each pitcher, grows with each pitch they throw.

.) The Mets got a taste of what the playoff atmosphere would bring during their three-game series against the Nationals after the trade deadline and they grew excited for what was to come later in the postseason.
