Juan Uribe, who has missed the first two rounds of the playoffs due to a chest injury, is hoping to make the World Series roster (Oct. 24).
Uribe fielded grounders during the Mets’ workout at Citi Field on Friday (Oct. 23).
Mets manager Terry Collins said that Uribe will hit on Saturday, but was unsure about his potential inclusion for the World Series.
“I don’t know,” Collins said. “We’ll find out [Saturday]. See some live pitching and see how it goes.”
The Mets will have the benefit of the DH in Games 1, 2, 6, and 7 of the World Series in Kansas City, but the Royals aren’t expected to start any left-handed pitchers during the series.
During the regular season, Uribe hit .272 with a .350 OBP and .543 SLG to go along with seven home runs and 15 RBI against left-handers, while hitting .246 with a .310 OBP and .373 SLG to go along with seven home runs and 28 RBI against right-handers.
