The Mets have interest in free-agent RH reliever Darren O’Day, a source told Newsday reporter Marc Carig (Nov. 8, 2015).
O’Day, 33, is seeking a four-year deal worth $28-$36 million, according to FoxSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal (Nov. 18. 2015).
The side-arming reliever had a 1.92 ERA during his last 263 innings spanning four seasons.
O’Day has offers in hand and will be talking with potential managers during the next week (Nov. 10, 2015). However, he will likely give the Orioles a final chance to sign him before he inks a deal with another team (Nov. 10, 2015).
The Red Sox, Tigers, Nationals, Royals, Dodgers and Cubs also have early interest in O’Day (Nov. 9. 2015), who had a 1.53 ERA in 68 appearances for the O’s last season.
The Mets selected O’Day in the Rule 5 Draft before 2008. He made their roster out of spring training, but was sent back to his original team after two weeks to make room on the roster for Nelson Figueroa.
