Who are the best fits for the Mets?

Free agent outfielders Jayson Heyward and Yoenis Cespedes, infielders Ian Desmond, David Freese, Alexei Ramirez, Ben Zobrist and Howie Kendrick, and relievers Darren O’Day, Tony Sipp and Joakim Soria, are all good fits for the Mets, according to a list comprised by ESPN.com’s Jim Bowden (Nov. 12, 2015).

Specifically, Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors believes the Mets make the most sense for Desmond and free-agent OF Dexter Fowler.

Desmond, who will cost a draft pick, as he was extended a qualifying offer from the Nationals, is reportedly seeking a multi-year deal.

ESPN.com’s Keith Law believes he’s worth three years and $39 million (Nov. 9, 2015), though Dierkes and CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman expect Desmond to eventually ink a five or six-year deal worth around $15 million a season.
