Can four aces beat a royal flush?

acesIn a group of four aces, Jacob deGrom is the roster’s Joker, according to Daily News reporter Kristie Ackert (Oct. 27, 2015).

“Jacob will try to put a cup on your head. He’ll put seeds in your hoodie and when you put it up, they all go down your shirt,” infielder Matt Reynolds told Ackert.

DeGrom, Steven Matz, Noah Syndergaard and Matt Harvey are not just outstanding pitchers, but also close friends, according to multiple reports.

Mets senior advisor Guy Conti has been in baseball for nearly 40 years and told Ackert he can’t remember seeing such a ‘together pitching staff.’

For instance, before each game, regardless of who is starting, the group will walk out to the bullpen together to offer encouragement, a mechanical tip, etc., then they’ll all walk back together.

I wonder what Zack Wheeler is thinking about all of this? I mean, if the Mets have the four aces, or the four horsemen right now, they’re going to be the Fab Five, or some other name, by the middle of next summer. Wheeler is currently rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. He says he’ll be back in blue and orange and pitching at Citi Field by June, July. At that point, the Mets will be running out deGrom, Harvey, Syndergaard, Matz and Wheeler every five days, which is ridiculously good. It wasn’t too long ago that Wheeler was this team’s No. 2. In less than a year, I guess he’ll be their No. 4 or 5. It’s amazing.
