According to local weather forecasts, it is expected to rain all day on Tuesday in Kansas City, with a 58% chance of rain during first pitch of Game 1 of the World Series at 8 pm ET…
MLB will play Game 1 on Wednesday night if Tuesday night’s game is rained out and eliminate Thursday’s travel day to play Game 2, according to Newsday (Oct. 27. 2015). The series would continue Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with Games 3, 4 and a possible 5, at Citi Field.

The rain helps the Royals, there is no way around it. If tonight is rained out, it will mean Games 1 through 4 are played four consecutive days, with a Game 5 coming on a fifth-straight day. The Mets bullpen is already a question mark. The lack of an off day will mean over-exposing it more than it already will be in a short series.
A rainout also means the potential for a five-man rotation, because there is no off day to break it up. As it stands, Matt Harvey is scheduled to pitch Game 1, then come back five days later for Game 5. However, without the off day, game 5 will be on four days rest. I suppose it’s possible they bring him back that soon, but – with all the concern about his arm – that remains to be seen. Also, needing to pull, say, Jon Niese or Bartolo Colon, to start a possible Game 5, would add further stress on the bullpen.
The point is, they better not postpone Game 1. I find it hard to believe they’ll do it, a) because of travel, and b) because of FOX programming. Also, they’ll have all day to tarp the field, prepare and then adjust when rain hopefully stops around 9 pm. If I had to bet, I say the game is delayed it starts between 9-10 pm…
