Team Notes
Mets Notes: The Mets return to the World Series for the first time since 2000 and haven’t won since 1986. New York has a five-game winning streak in the postseason dating back to game five of the NLDS. Daniel Murphy earned NLCS MVP honors after batting .529 and slugged a home run in all four games of the series. Murphy is 6-for-15 off Volquez with a double and two RBI in his career. Tonight’s DH Kelly Johnson is 4-for-14 with a double and two RBI off Volquez. Jeurys Familia has allowed only two hits and two walks in 9.2 scoreless innings this postseason.
Royals Notes: The Royals return to the World Series after losing in seven games last year to the San Francisco Giants. They haven’t won the World Series since 1985. Kansas City was awarded home field advantage in the series after the American League won this years All-Star Game. Alcides Escobar was named the ALCS MVP after hitting .478 out of the leadoff spot. Alex Rios is the only Royals player to have faced Harvey before. Rios is 1-for-3, with his one hit breaking up a Harvey no-hit bid against the White Sox in 2013.
