Terry Collins addressed reporters, presented by Cadillac

Today at Wrigley Field, before the team’s workout, Terry Collins talked with media and had the following to say about…

Matt Harvey is still on schedule to start Game 5, despite still being sore and stiff after getting hit by a line drive during Game 1.

Wrigley Field is a great place to play for a team with power like the Cubs, who play very well in Chicago, “but we look at our lineup and we think we have some power too.”

Dan Warthen does a terrific job, especially the mechanical side of pitching, he has gotten to know this staff’s strengths, he repeatedly puts together game successful plans and he’s very good at working with his pitchers on in-game adjustments.

His team never gets too far ahead of itself, which is partly why they’ve done well when playing from behind, “They don’t get caught up in anything other than doing what they do best, which is playing the game right.”

He has yet to write a lineup for Tuesday’s Game 3, because he did not learn until Sunday that the Cubs would be starting Kyle Hendricks.

The idea behind implementing innings and pitch count limits this past summer was so these young starting pitchers would be able to be pitching as they are in October, “I think the rest that we’ve allowed them to have, watching pitch counts, I think it all adds up, plus the adrenaline on this stage, you’re just not as tired as you think you are.”
